I love the silver and glassware too - and MoM it is very interesting you say that about the foreboding, given what's to come in the story ... you gotta read it.

And Jules, I STILL have not got to Andrea G's Reunion, which I keep longing for and then forgetting when I get to the shop. Am writing it down. Am ashamed that have never read Iris Murdoch, or Alison Lurie. But don't tell anyone. Sshhh. So little time, so many books.

Speaking of which, I must shortly find a foodie bit in The Empress herself's new book of smut and raunch! She and I are chatting about it in public on Tuesday, and she is becoming quite famous already, with ABC Drive interview yesterday and SMH appearance ('What I'm Reading', in which i DID notice a sore lack of howtoshuckanoyster mentions...) today. Anyway you must all check the book out, because even if you aren't curious about the great diversity of desire out there, Steph's writing is SO good that it becomes riveting stuff. It's called Kink: a Straight Girl's Investigation - see here for all the juicy details - http://stephaniecliffordsmith.com/kink.html - and the event details are there too.

Funny, I'm trying to think of 'friendship over time' books and my minds a bit of a blank. Although, I suppose, for relationships over time Woolf's 'Mrs Dalloway' is right up there. But that's not exactly friendships. That's love relationships. Hmm...

I like the phrase, 'wine in fragile glasses'. It feels foreboding.
